Shuttle Atlantis Set for Monday Launch

United States — NASA is counting down to the long-delayed launch of the space shuttle Atlantis for the final Hubble Space Telescope maintenance mission. Atlantis is scheduled to lift-off at 2:01 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 11.

This shuttle mission is particularly interesting and a worthwhile one to pay close attention to for many reasons - among them are it is the last to the Hubble, there is an increased concern about space junk, it has been delayed for multiple reasons, and this is only the 17th time two shuttles have been on the launch pad together. The shuttle Endeavour is standing-by in case a rescue mission is necessary.
