The photo opportunity flight caused a panic in lower Manhattan, Staten Island and across the Hudson River in New Jersey where people feared another 9/11-type incident might have been underway. The flight cost the American public more than $325,000.

White House Official Quits Over Air Force One Flight Opportunity
United States — The Director of the White House Military Office has resigned over the controversial Air Force One flyover of New York City last month. In his resignation letter (PDF) Louis Caldera writes, "the controversy surrounding the Presidential Airlift Group's aerial photo shoot over New York City has made it impossible for me to effectively lead the White House Military Office."
